Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Loch Morlich and Rosemarkie Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Dornoch Beach and Highland Wildlife & Birdwatch Safaris. Venture out of the city with trips to Invermoriston Falls (in Invermoriston), Aviemore (Zipline, Loch Morlich Watersports, &more) and Boat of Garten Golf Club (in Boat of Garten). Milton Keynes to Inverness is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Milton Keynes in July: high temperatures in Inverness hover around 22°C and lows are around 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Wed) early enough to drive to Durness.
