Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Shop till you drop at Salamanca Market and Hammer and Hand Metal Gallery. Visit Seven Mile Beach and Bellerive Beach for some beach relaxation. Explore Hobart's surroundings by going to Raspins Beach (in Orford) and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (in Brighton). And it doesn't end there: see the interesting displays at Mona, enjoy the sand and surf at Opossum Bay Beach, take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, and step off the mainland to explore Macquarie Island.

Adelaide to Hobart is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Adelaide in November; daily highs in Hobart reach 22°C and lows reach 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Port Arthur.

Kick off your visit on the 6th (Tue): look for all kinds of wild species at Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, then get to know the fascinating history of Port Arthur Historic Site, and then don't miss a visit to Remarkable Cave. Keep things going the next day: steep yourself in history at Coal Mines Historic Site, then hike along Waterfall Bay, and then trek along Three Capes Track.

Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Gala Estate Vineyard and Devil's Corner Cellar Door. Step out of the city life by going to Wineglass Bay Lookout and Honeymoon Bay. Get out of town with these interesting Coles Bay side-trips: Denison Beach (in Bicheno) and Melshell Oysters (in Swansea). Spend the 10th (Sat) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Friendly Beaches, view the masterpieces at Waubs Bay Gallery, enjoy the sea views from Cape Tourville Lighthouse, and contemplate the waterfront views at Coles Bay.
