Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Bring the kids along to Seven Mile Beach and South Cape Bay. Discover out-of-the-way places like Fluted Cape Trail and Tahune Forest AirWalk. Step out of Hobart with an excursion to Raptor Refuge in Kettering--about 40 minutes away. Spend the 21st (Mon) exploring nature at South Bruny National Park. There's lots more to do: explore the wealth of natural beauty at Hartz Mountains National Park, stroll around Train Park, visit a coastal fixture at Cape Bruny Lighthouse, and do a tasting at Moorilla Estate Winery.

Brisbane to Hobart is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of car and ferry. Traveling from Brisbane in September, expect Hobart to be little chillier, temps between 18°C and 7°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Thu) so you can go by car to Eaglehawk Neck.
