Traveling from Toronto to Tokyo, you'll lose 14 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Toronto in November, expect Tokyo to be somewhat warmer, temps between 19°C and 11°C. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Get a sense of the local culture at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Take a break from the city and head to Yodoryokuchi Park and Kyoto Isshu Trail, Higahiyama Fuahimi Inari Course. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, go for a walk through Arashiyama, wander the streets of Gion, and explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle.
