The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Head to Jagalchi Market and Gukje Marketfor some retail therapy. Get a sense of the local culture at Gamcheon Culture Village and Haedong Yonggung Temple. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Haeundae Beach, stroll through Yongdusan Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Beomeosa Temple, and shop like a local with Shinsegae Dept. Store Centum City.

Dallas, USA to Busan is an approximately 19-hour combination of tram and flight. You can also do a combination of tram, flight, and train; or fly. You'll lose 15 hours traveling from Dallas to Busan due to the time zone difference. In December, Busan is a bit cooler than Dallas - with highs of 48°F and lows of 31°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sun) early enough to drive to Gyeongju.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Start off your visit on the 31st (Mon): take in the spiritual surroundings of Seokguram, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Bulguksa Temple, then contemplate the long history of Gyeongju Historic Area, and finally contemplate the long history of Cheonmachong Tomb. On the 1st (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate the waterfront views at Anapji Pond, steep yourself in history at Donggung Palace & Wolji Pond, see the interesting displays at Gyeongju National Museum, then contemplate the long history of Banwolseong Fortress, and finally contemplate the long history of Cheomseongdae Observatory.

Drive from Busan to Gyeongju in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of subway and bus; or take a train. When traveling from Busan in December, plan for slightly colder days in Gyeongju, with highs around 38°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 33°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Tue) to allow time to travel to Jeju.

Get some historical perspective at Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace. For shopping fun, head to Myeongdong Shopping Street or Namdaemun Market. Venture out of the city with trips to Paju (The Third Tunnel & DMZ). Getting from Jeju to Seoul by flight takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, and train. January in Seoul sees daily highs of 35°F and lows of 20°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
