The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Get a sense of the local culture at Haedong Yonggung Temple and Gamcheon Culture Village. Head to Jagalchi Market and Gukje Marketfor some retail therapy. And it doesn't end there: head outdoors with Haeundae Beach, admire the local landmark of Busan Station Plaza, stop by Kukje Underground Shopping Center, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Beomeosa Temple.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Kick off your visit on the 31st (Mon): appreciate the history behind Seokguram, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bulguksa Temple, thencontemplate the long history of Gyeongju Historic Area, and finally contemplate the long history of Cheonmachong Tomb. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 1st (Tue): contemplate the waterfront views at Anapji Pond, thensee the interesting displays at Gyeongju National Museum, thencontemplate the long history of Banwolseong Fortress, and finally contemplate the long history of Cheomseongdae Observatory.

You can drive from Busan to Gyeongju in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. When traveling from Busan in December, plan for slightly colder days in Gyeongju, with highs around °F, while nights are about the same with lows around °F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Jeju.

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO.
Do some cultural sightseeing at O’sulloc Tea Museum and Gwaneumsa Temple. Step out of Jeju to go to Seogwipo and see Gasiri Wind Power Plant, which is approximately 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Hamdeok Beach, walk around Hallim Park, hunt for treasures at Dongmun Market, and head outdoors with Gwakji Gwamul Beach.

Traveling by flight from Gyeongju to Jeju takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, taxi, and ferry. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Sat) early enough to travel to Seoul.
