Get a sense of the local culture at Ginza and Akihabara. Step out of the city life by going to Moroiso Shores and Lake Kawaguchi. Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Momiji Tunnel (in Fujikawaguchiko-machi), Lake Ashi (Ashinoko) (in Hakone-machi) and Nature & Wildlife Tours (in Fuji). Next up on the itinerary: admire the landmark architecture of Tokyo Tower and make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine.

Christchurch, New Zealand to Tokyo is an approximately 17-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 3 hours traveling from Christchurch to Tokyo. You can drive from Kanazawa to Kyoto in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In September in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 33°C during the day and 23°C at night. On the 8th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Hiroshima.
