The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO.
Visit Hamdeok Beach and Gwakji Gwamul Beach for some beach relaxation. Step off the beaten path and head to Geomunoreum and Yakchunsa Temple. Get out of town with these interesting Jeju side-trips: Seogwipo (Jeongbang Waterfall, Hwangwooji Coast, & more). There's lots more to do: identify plant and animal life at Sinpung Sincheon Bada Mokjang, kick back and relax at Hyeopjae Beach, stroll through Handam Park, and make a trip to Gasiri Wind Power Plant.

Albuquerque, USA to Jeju is an approximately 21-hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight; or do a combination of bus and flight. A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
We've included these beaches for you: Chuam Beach and Sacheonjin Beach. Mukho Lighthouse Park and Yongyeonsa will appeal to history buffs. Go for a jaunt from Gangneung to Donghae to see Mureung Valley about 1h 15 min away. And it doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Gangmun Beach, take an in-depth tour of Heogyun and Heonanseolheon Memorial Hall, and trek along Jeongdong-Simgok Badabuchae-gil Trail.

You can do a combination of flight and bus from Jeju to Gangneung in 4.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry and train. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Yangyang-gun.

On the 1st (Sat), take in the natural beauty of Osaek Carbonated Hot Springs, Head underground at Geumganggul Cave, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Baekdamsa Temple. Here are some ideas for day two: make a trip to Namae Port, don't miss a visit to Hyuhyuam, then take some stellar pictures from Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Cheongcho Lake, and finally contemplate the long history of Uisangdae.

You can drive from Gangneung to Yangyang-gun in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sun) early enough to drive to Andong.

Sitting along either side of the Nakdong River, Andong maintains an unrivalled reputation as a center for Korean folk and cultural heritage.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Mon): wander the streets of Sinsedong Byeokhwa Maeul, then wander the streets of Yeongju Museom Village, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Gounsa Temple. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Yiyuksa Munhakgwan, then steep yourself in history at Dosanseowon Confucian School, then see the interesting displays at Yugyo Munhwa Museum, and finally take a stroll through Andong Gunja Village (Historic Site of Ocheon).

Traveling by car from Yangyang-gun to Andong takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of bus and train. Expect a daytime high around 88°F in August, and nighttime lows around 72°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a bus to Gyeongju.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Wed): contemplate the long history of Oksan Seowon, take in the spiritual surroundings of Oeosa Temple, then look for all kinds of wild species at Gyeongju Bird Park, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Girimsa Temple. Traveling by bus from Andong to Gyeongju takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Expect a bit cooler weather when traveling from Andong in August: highs in Gyeongju hover around 73°F, while lows dip to 73°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Busan.

Traveling by car from Gyeongju to Busan takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Gyeongju in August: highs in Busan hover around 87°F, while lows dip to 74°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
