Cape Hirakubozaki and Oganzaki Lighthouse will appeal to history buffs. Escape the urban bustle at Kabira Bay and Kabira Ishizaki Manta Scramble. And it doesn't end there: find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, enjoy the sand and surf at Akashi Beach, make a trip to Nagurao Bridge, and explore the fascinating underground world of Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave.

Helsinki, Finland to Ishigaki is an approximately 16.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Eastern European Time (EET) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 7 hour difference. In March, Ishigaki is much hotter than Helsinki - with highs of 26°C and lows of 21°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Fri) so you can travel to Hatsukaichi.

The city of Hatsukaichi developed from a small market town, frequented by passing samurais during the Edo period.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Sat): head outdoors with Paddle Park, then head off the coast to Miyajima, and then steep yourself in history at Itsukushima Shrine Torii. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 17th (Sun): take in the spiritual surroundings of Miyama Shrine, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Daishoin Temple, and then steep yourself in history at Itsukushima Shrine.

Getting from Ishigaki to Hatsukaichi by combination of flight and train takes about 6 hours. Other options: fly. When traveling from Ishigaki in March, plan for slightly colder days and much colder nights in Hatsukaichi: temperatures range from 16°C by day to 6°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sun) so you can take a train to Himeji.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Mon): don't miss a visit to Himeji Castle and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Mt Shosha hiking. On your second day here, admire the natural beauty at Kokoen Garden, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Takamikura, and then shop like a local with Chinatown (Nankinmachi).

Traveling by train from Hatsukaichi to Himeji takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. March in Himeji sees daily highs of 14°C and lows of 7°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Tue) early enough to take a train to Kyoto.

A resort town located in the foothills of Mount Fuji, Fujikawaguchiko-machi acts as a base for many who plan to take one of the trails up the iconic volcano.
Get outdoors at Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Fujikawaguchiko-machi: Mt. Shakushi (in Fujiyoshida) and Odana Falls (in Fuji).
