The time zone changes from South Africa Standard Time (SAST) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 7 hour difference. Formed by the gradual merging of several old fishing villages, today the island town of Motobu-cho boasts paradisal beaches of white sand, clear waters, and a rich array of wildlife.
Kick off your visit on the 20th (Fri): go for a walk through Bise no Fukugi Tree Road and then steep yourself in history at Nakijin Castle Ruins. Traveling by combination of flight and bus from Miyakojima to Motobu-cho takes 4.5 hours. Traveling from Miyakojima in March, plan for little chillier nights in Motobu-cho, with lows around 16°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Sat) to allow time to travel to Tokyo.

You can do a combination of bus and flight from Motobu-cho to Tokyo in 7.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus, flight, taxi, and train; or do a combination of ferry and train. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Motobu-cho in March: high temperatures in Tokyo hover around 17°C and lows are around 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Step off the beaten path and head to Nanzen-ji Temple and Kyoto Isshu Trail, Higahiyama Fuahimi Inari Course. Take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In March, daily temperatures in Kyoto can reach 16°C, while at night they dip to 5°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.
