Change things up with these side-trips from Tokyo: Ghibli Museum Mitaka (in Mitaka) and Tokyo DisneySea (in Urayasu). Have a day of magic on the 11th (Mon) at Tokyo Disneyland. Yokohama is very close to Tokyo. March in Yokohama sees daily highs of 15°C and lows of 7°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Takayama.

Hidden high up in the Japanese Alps, Takayama remained largely cut off from the rest of Japan for centuries, allowing the local culture to grow in relative isolation.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Sun): examine the collection at Hida Minzoka Mura Folk Village (Hida no Sato), steep yourself in history at Takayama Jinya, then take a stroll through Sanmachi Suji, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Higashiyama Walking Course, and finally examine the collection at Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall.

Traveling by car from Yokohama to Takayama takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, flight, and taxi; or take a train. Traveling from Yokohama in March, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Takayama, with lows of 3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Mon) so you can travel to Fukuoka.

The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
On the 18th (Mon), let the kids burn off some steam at Ohori Park, go for a walk through Fukuoka Tower, make a trip to Hakata Bus Terminal, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Dazaifu Temman-gu, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine, and finally browse the different shops at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center. On the 19th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers, then explore the ancient world of Ohnojo Castle Ruins - Mt. Shiojiyama, then take in nature's colorful creations at Komyozen-ji Temple, and finally admire the masterpieces at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum.

Traveling by combination of train and flight from Takayama to Fukuoka takes 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. When traveling from Takayama in March, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Fukuoka: temperatures range from 17°C by day to 7°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Hiroshima.
