Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Nakijin Castle Ruins and Nakagusuku Castle Ruins. Get some historical perspective at Sefa-Utaki and Zakimi Castle Ruins. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Onna-son: Daisekirinzan (in Kunigami-son), Okichan Theater (in Motobu-cho) and Katsuren Castle Ruins (in Uruma). There's much more to do: take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, get a taste of the local shopping with Onna Station Nakayukui Market, take in the dramatic natural features at Cape Manzamo, and pause for some serene contemplation at St. Clara Church.

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Take a break from the city and head to Toguchi no Hama and Sunayama Beach. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Scuba & Snorkeling and East Henna Cape. There's still lots to do: visit a coastal fixture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse, take in the views from Irabu Ohashi, explore the gorgeous colors at Yabiji, and get outside with Yonaha Maehama Beach.

You can do a combination of bus and flight from Onna-son to Miyakojima in 3.5 hours. Plan for a bit warmer nights when traveling from Onna-son in March since evenings lows in Miyakojima dip to 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Tue) early enough to travel to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cape Hirakubozaki and Yonehara Beach. Escape the urban bustle at Kondoi Beach and Kayaking & Canoeing. Do a combination of flight and train from Ishigaki to Hiroshima in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of flight and ferry. When traveling from Ishigaki in March, plan for little chillier days in Hiroshima, with highs around 16°C, while nights are much colder with lows around 6°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Toji and Ise Shrine Geku. Do some cultural sightseeing at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Nijo Castle. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Dotombori (in Dotombori) and Himeji Castle (in Himeji). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, take a stroll through Gion, steep yourself in history at Sanjusangendo Temple, and look for gifts at Fuuka-Kimono.

Take a train from Kyoto to Tokyo in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. In March, daily temperatures in Tokyo can reach 17°C, while at night they dip to 7°C. On the 31st (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
