Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Odaiba and Tokyo National Museum. Museum-lovers will get to explore Edo-Tokyo Museum and The Gallery of Horyuji Treasures. Change things up with a short trip to Ghibli Museum Mitaka in Mitaka (about 44 minutes away). The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Sensō-ji, get curious at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation Miraikan, take a stroll through Takeshita Street, and make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine.

The resort town of Yamanouchi-machi has plenty of contrasting, but complementary things going for it.
Step out of the city life by going to Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park and Nozawa Onsen. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Yamanouchi-machi: Jukambo National Museum (in Kusatsu-machi) and Ike no Taira Shitsugen (in Tomi). There's still lots to do: hit the slopes at Shigakogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Area and go for a walk through Ryuoo Mountain Park.

Traveling by combination of train and taxi from Tokyo to Yamanouchi-machi takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus.
