With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
Visit The Bund (Wai Tan) and Former French Concession for their historical value. For shopping fun, head to Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road) or Three on the Bund. Take a break from Shanghai with a short trip to Chongming Dongtan Birds National Nature Reserve in Chongming County, about 1h 35 min away. Next up on the itinerary: make a trip to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, browse the different shops at South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market, look for gifts at Spin Ceramics, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Jade Buddha Temple.
