You'll find plenty of places to visit near Gold Coast: Byron Bay (Cape Byron Walking Track, Cape Byron Lighthouse, &more). Next up on the itinerary: observe the fascinating underwater world at Sea World Theme Park, take in panoramic vistas at SkyPoint Observation Deck, stroll through Burleigh Heads Beach, and find something for the whole family at Dreamworld.

Melbourne to Gold Coast is an approximately 4- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight, train, and bus; or drive. Traveling from Melbourne in December, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Gold Coast, with lows around 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Tue) early enough to drive to Brisbane.

Brisbane is known for parks, wildlife, and museums. A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cairns: Port Douglas (Four Mile Beach & Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas) and Palm Cove Beach (in Palm Cove). Next up on the itinerary: take a memorable tour with Tours, admire the natural beauty at Botanical Gardens, kick back and relax at Trinity Beach, and appreciate the history behind Cairns Cenotaph.

Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Brisbane in December: highs in Cairns hover around 36°C, while lows dip to 26°C. Fly from Cairns to Adelaide in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 0.5 hours traveling from Cairns to Adelaide. Traveling from Cairns in December, things will get little chillier in Adelaide: highs are around 30°C and lows about 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Mon) so you can travel to Hobart.

Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 0.5 hours traveling from Adelaide to Hobart. Traveling from Adelaide in December, expect Hobart to be slightly colder, temps between 24°C and 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
