Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
Venture out of the city with trips to Koya-cho (Koyasan Okunoin, Kongobu-ji Temple, &more), Mt. Yoshino (in Yoshino-cho) and Mount Kabuto (Kabuto-yama) (in Nishinomiya). Pack the 26th (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at Hirakata Park. The adventure continues: find something for the whole family at Universal Studios Japan, deepen your understanding at Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, make a trip to Kuromon Market, and enjoy breathtaking views from Kuchu Teien Observatory.
