A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
Kids will enjoy Chuam Beach and Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Daegwallyeong Agi Mokjang (in Pyeongchang-gun), Osaek Jujeongol Valley (in Yangyang-gun) and Sokcho (Seoraksan National Park & Seorak Waterpia). Next up on the itinerary: kick back and relax at Jeongdongjin Beach and head outdoors with Gangmun Beach.

A sprawling metropolis and center for research, Daejeon stands as the fifth largest city in South Korea.
Kids will enjoy Currency Museum and Cheongju National Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Daejeon side-trips: Muryeong Wangreung Exhibition Hall (in Gongju), Cheongnamdae (in Cheongju) and Boeun-gun (Beopjusa Temple & Songnisan National Park). Venture out of the city with trips to Daegu (Seomun Market, Sanghwa Yi's Old House, &more), Ulsan Petroglyph Museum (in Ulsan) and Gatbawi (in Gyeongsan).
