Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.
Step off the beaten path and head to Oyunumagawa Natural Footbath and Lake Toya. Explore Noboribetsu's surroundings by going to Hamada Marutome Fruits Gaden (in Sobetsu-cho), Muroran (Cape Chikyu & Tokkarisho Lookout) and Silo Viewing Platform (in Toyako-cho). There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape at Jigokudani, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Katta Shrine, identify plant and animal life at Kiushito Wetland, and contemplate the geological forces at Mt.
