Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Nanzen-ji Temple and Toji. Step off the beaten path and head to Tofuku-ji Temple and Koyasan Okunoin. Get out of town with these interesting Kyoto side-trips: Hikone Castle (in Hikone), Byodoin (in Uji) and Ise (Sarutahiko Shrine, Ise Shrine Geku, & more).
