City of Azaleas
Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.Visit Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) and Wulai for their historical value. Visiting YOLO Taiwan and Tou Cheng Bathing Beach will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Taipei: Toucheng (Wushih Harbor, Waiao Beach, &more), Wufengchi Waterfall (in Jiaoxi) and New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum (in Yingge). There's much more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Taipei 101, take in the spiritual surroundings of Songshan Ciyou Temple, contemplate the long history of Dalongdong Bao An Temple, and shop like a local with Eslite Bookstore - Xinyi.
