Hobart

— 4 nights

Tasmania's Capital City

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
On the 9th (Fri), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. There's still lots to do: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington, shop like a local with Salamanca Market, examine the collection at Mawson's Hut Replica Museum, and explore the world behind art at Museum of Old and New Art (Mona).

To see reviews, more things to do, maps, and more tourist information, you can read our Hobart itinerary builder app.

Expect a daytime high around 18°C in September, and nighttime lows around 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sun) so you can travel back home.

Unspoiled beauty and colorful nature are the hallmarks of Tasmania, Australia’s smallest state. This picturesque island boasts some of the country’s most attractive stretches of coastline and a number of distinctive, forested mountain ranges. The state capital, Hobart, serves as an ideal base for exploration of the island’s interior and opulent beaches.
