A sprawling metropolis and center for research, Daejeon stands as the fifth largest city in South Korea.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Currency Museum and National Science Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Daejeon side-trips: Cheongju (Cheongju National Museum & Cheongnamdae), Gwanchoksa Temple (in Nonsan) and Beopjusa Temple (in Boeun-gun). Explore Gyeongju's surroundings by going to Daegu (Seomun Market & Donghwasa), Eunhaesa Temple (in Yeongcheon) and Ulsan Daegok Museum (in Ulsan). The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Kids will enjoy Haeundae Beach and Gwangalli Beach. Go for a jaunt from Busan to Geoje to see Oedo Botania about 1h 45 min away. Drive from Gyeongju to Busan in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. When traveling from Gyeongju in December, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Busan: temperatures range from 10°C by day to 0°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Thu) to allow time to travel to Jeju.

Bring the kids along to Hamdeok Beach and Gimnyeong Seonsegi Beach. Step out of Jeju to go to Seogwipo and see Seongsan Ilchulbong, which is approximately 1h 20 min away.
