A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sapporo: Doraemon Wakuwaku Sky Park (in Chitose), Otaru (Tomioka Catholic Church & Otaru Canal) and Noboribetsu (Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe, Jigokudani, &more). And it doesn't end there: stroll around Odori Park, take some stellar pictures from Mt. Moiwa, hit the slopes at Okurayama Lookout, and contemplate the long history of Hokkaido Jingu.

Formed by the gradual merging of several old fishing villages, today the island town of Motobu-cho boasts paradisal beaches of white sand, clear waters, and a rich array of wildlife.
Venture out of the city with trips to Busena Marine Park (in Nago), Onna-son (Cape Manzamo, Cape Maeda, &more) and Cape Zampa (in Yomitan-son). There's still lots to do: admire nature's wide array of creatures at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, head outdoors with Bisezaki, look for all kinds of wild species at Sesoko Labyrinth, and go for a walk through Bise no Fukugi Tree Road.

You can fly from Sapporo to Motobu-cho in 9 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and ferry; or do a combination of car and ferry. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Sapporo in July: high temperatures in Motobu-cho hover around 89°F and lows are around 79°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Wed) early enough to travel to Ishigaki.
