Located just east of the famous ruins after which it is named, Ayutthaya provides the setting for a holiday of historical, natural, and cultural exploration.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Wat Phutthaisawan Temple and Thai Boat Museum. Get in touch with nature at Mekong River and Namtok Chet Sao Noi National Park. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Ayutthaya: Nakhon Nayok (Wang Takrai Park, Ganesha Park, &more), Khao Yai National Park (Nang Rong Waterfalls & The Bloom By TV Pool) and Wat Satue Temple (in Tha Ruea). Spend the 12th (Sat) exploring nature at Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex. The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Phra Ram, admire the striking features of Sanam Chandra Palace, contemplate the long history of Wat Maheyong, and appreciate the history behind Chedi Wat Sam Pluem.

For other places to visit, more things to do, where to stay, and more tourist information, read Ayutthaya online vacation planner.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport. In August, daily temperatures in Ayutthaya can reach 39°C, while at night they dip to 30°C. On the 29th (Fri), you're off to home.
