A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Museum-lovers will appreciate The Hokkaido University Museum and Hokkaido Museum Morino Charenga. Get outdoors at Otaru Canal and Shioya Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Sapporo side-trips: Otaru (Otaru Aquarium, Otaru-shi General Museum, &more) and Chitose (Doraemon Wakuwaku Sky Park, Royce' Chocolate World, &more). The adventure continues: get engrossed in the history at Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku-no Mura), browse the exhibits of Watanabe Junichi Museum of Literature, shop like a local with Tanukikoji Shopping Street, and see the interesting displays at Sapporo Beer Museum.

Kick off your visit on the 24th (Fri): test the waters at a local thermal spa, look for gifts at Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, then wander the streets of Motomachi, and finally admire the striking features of Kyu Soma-tei.
