Just east of the capital sits Famagusta, an ancient port city with archaeological attractions, as well as an abandoned quarter that is popular among tourists as a symbol of the conflict between Turks and Greeks.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Wed): explore the ancient world of Salamis Ancient City, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St Barnabas Monastery and Icon Museum, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Monastery of Apostolos Varnavas. On the 12th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Famagusta City Walls, take in the spiritual surroundings of Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, explore the historical opulence of Othello Castle, mingle with the ghosts of the past at Ghost Town Varosha, then explore the fascinating underground world of Kastros Hill Ancient Cave Tomb, and finally steep yourself in history at Ay Trias Bassilica.

To see maps, other places to visit, photos, and other tourist information, read our Famagusta itinerary planner.

Paphos to Famagusta is an approximately 2.5- hour car ride. You can also take a bus. In March, plan for daily highs up to 23°C, and evening lows to 10°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Kyrenia.

Famous for its natural port and Byzantine castle, Kyrenia is not only a lovely old Venetian town, but also the most visited tourist destination in Northern Cyprus.
Step out of Kyrenia with an excursion to Korineum Golf and Country Club in Esentepe--about 36 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: explore the ancient world of Bellapais Monastery, get engrossed in the history at Ancient Shipwreck Museum, go for a walk through Lapta Coastal Walkway, and explore the historical opulence of Saint Hilarion Castle.

Plan my Kyrenia trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

You can drive from Famagusta to Kyrenia in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In March, daytime highs in Kyrenia are 23°C, while nighttime lows are 9°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Wed) so you can drive back home.
