Famous for its natural port and Byzantine castle, Kyrenia is not only a lovely old Venetian town, but also the most visited tourist destination in Northern Cyprus.
Saint Hilarion Castle and Kyrenia Castle are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visiting Kyrenia Harbour and Korineum Golf and Country Club will get you outdoors. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Bellapais Monastery, get engrossed in the history at Ancient Shipwreck Museum, take a memorable tour with Tours, and kick back and relax at Alagadi Turtle Beach.

To find where to stay, photos, reviews, and other tourist information, go to the Kyrenia travel route builder tool .

Sofia, Bulgaria to Kyrenia is an approximately 6-hour combination of flight and car. You can also do a combination of flight, shuttle, and bus; or do a combination of car and ferry. Traveling from Sofia in February, things will get somewhat warmer in Kyrenia: highs are around 20°C and lows about 7°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Famagusta.

Just east of the capital sits Famagusta, an ancient port city with archaeological attractions, as well as an abandoned quarter that is popular among tourists as a symbol of the conflict between Turks and Greeks.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Fri): contemplate the long history of Ay Trias Bassilica, see a world frozen in time at Ghost Town Varosha, step into the grandiose world of Othello Castle, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Sinan Pasa Mosque, and finally delve into the distant past at Salamis Ancient City. Keep things going the next day: steep yourself in history at Famagusta City Walls, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Monastery of Apostolos Varnavas, then steep yourself in history at Sea Gate, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at St Barnabas Monastery and Icon Museum.
