City of a Thousand Flowers

While often referred to as "City of a Thousand Flowers," "City of a Thousand Pines," and "City of a Thousand Palms," you'd be right in thinking that numbers far greater than a thousand have given Da Lat its reputation as a fertile agricultural heartland.
Visiting Pine Track Adventures and Pongour Falls will get you outdoors. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Dalat Cathedral and Lam Dong Museum. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Linh Son Pagoda, don't miss a visit to Hang Nga Guest House and Art Gallery, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Domaine de Marie Church, and relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

To see traveler tips, photos, other places to visit, and more tourist information, read our Da Lat trip planning tool.

While most Southeast Asian countries have at least one booming metropolis, none seem to bustle nearly throughout like Vietnam does. While busy locals zoom about on motorbikes, visitors fill their Vietnam vacations with a mix of cultural sightseeing and exploring the landscape. Big cities and towns boast colonial architecture, open-air markets, outstanding spa complexes, and modern restaurants. The country also features over 3,200 km (2,000 mi) of coastline dotted with sandy bays that attract scuba divers and kitesurfers. Away from busy urban centers, a tour of Vietnam reveals a rural landscape of lush rice paddies, jagged mountain peaks, and timeless villages unspoiled by the outside world.
