One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Visiting Bukhansan National Park and Nami Island will get you outdoors. For shopping fun, head to Myeongdong Shopping Street or Creative Life Store KEY. Get out of town with these interesting Seoul side-trips: Ilsan Lake Park (in Goyang), Mulhyanggi Arboretum (in Osan) and Korea National Arboretum (in Pocheon). Pack the 25th (Mon) with family-friendly diversions at Lotte World. There's still lots to do: explore the galleries of Gyeongbokgung Palace, steep yourself in history at Changdeokgung Palace, take an in-depth tour of National Museum of Korea, and wander the streets of Insadong.
