Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Get outdoors at Seven Mile Beach and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Museum of Old and New Art and St. David's Cathedral. Step out of Hobart with an excursion to The Sensory Tasmania in Richmond--about 30 minutes away. Spend the 17th (Sun) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Melbourne to Hobart is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry and bus. When traveling from Melbourne in March, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Hobart: temperatures range from 25°C by day to 13°C at night. You'll have a few hours on the 18th (Mon) to wrap things up before traveling to Port Arthur.
