Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, Liverpool

4.6
Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is among the country's most architecturally and historically significant collections of buildings, and houses Liverpool's most exciting attractions. It opened in 1846 as Britain's first structure built from cast iron, brick, and stone, and was the world's first fireproof construction. Start in the Beatles Story exhibit, where you'll learn all about the four Liverpudlians and their incredible impact on modern music. View some of the most acclaimed British and international contemporary art exhibits at the Tate Liverpool. Head into Mersey Maritime Museum to discover Liverpool's maritime heritage, and study ancient and modern slavery in the International Slavery Museum. You'll also find a large selection of cafes, restaurants, and shops among the buildings' grand colonnades. Some of the museums have an entrance fee, but a stroll around the complex is free. • Visited at the end of October on a sunny but cool day. The Beatles Museum is there as well as the ferry port. Nice area!  more »

  • Best place in Liverpool. Can't be missed. Great museums, cafes and restaurants. We had our best times here with learning about the cities history and seeing some new art. Plus you can get an ice-cream by the sea! Definitely better than the main city for a tourist, unless you want to shop.
  • Loved it! A great day out with so much to do and see that I expect to come back multiple times before I get to experience it all. The beautiful old buildings and monuments are a sight to behold. There's lots of activities and museums to see as well as shops and restaurants. The atmosphere was great between international and local tourists alike. Like anywhere you visit in Liverpool there's always good humoured banter to be heard. A great day out!
