Natural History Museum houses one of the world's largest collections of natural history specimens. Here you can see 70 million specimens in the fields of botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology, and zoology. The vast collection makes it impossible to view everything on one visit, so consider a few of the highlights. You can choose from dinosaur skeletons, fossils, taxidermied specimens of large mammals, and artwork featuring exotic animals, among many other displays. Whichever exhibits you put on your list, make sure to include Treasures. This exhibit features specimens that the museum selected from its exhaustive collection for their scientific, historical, aesthetic, and cultural importance. You can visit permanent exhibits for free, but temporary exhibits have an associated fee. Absolutely fascinating! The Victorian grand entrance hall is truly a cathedral to the natural world. Plenty to see for all ages - everything from minerals to the dinosaurs, with the blue whale being impressively huge! Expect the popular halls to be very busy, but other areas are more quiet. The cafe was very busy, but there is an area downstairs to take your own food/picnic. Queues to get in on a Saturday - but the queues were moving quite quickly, so the wait was not too long.
An absolutely massive building with a ton of fantastic exhibitions. In many ways though the building itself is as impressive as anything inside it. There displays on dinosaurs, which the kids love, human body, gemstones and a lot more. I spent hours in here and still didn't see everything. 1 slight downside is some of videos and sections are fairly dated and you can see they were done in the 1980's so some upgrading would be good. It still a must visit.
