Trip Planner: Europe / UK / Scotland / Scottish Highlands / Ross and Cromarty / Poolewe / Inverewe Garden
One of the most beautiful places in Scotland, this 50-acre garden was created in 1862. It is an oasis of exotic plants, bursting with vibrant colour, thanks to the warm currents of the Gulf Stream that flows along the west Scottish coastline.Add Inverewe Garden and other attractions to your Poolewe trip itinerary using our Poolewe driving holiday website.
Rhododendrons from the Himalayas, eucalypts from Tasmania, olearia from New Zealand and other species from such far-flung places as Chile and South Africa, all flourish here, in a display that changes with the seasons.
As well as the Garden we have over 2,000 acres which we manage for conservation including the Pinewood Trail, Inverewe Trail and Kernsary Path. At the edge of Loch Ewe is a Wildlife Hide full of interesting facts and interpretation where seals, otters, divers and a rich variety of wildlife can be seen.
Only assistance dogs are permitted in the Garden, but there's a dog friendly Pinewood Trail (45mins circular walk) offering superb views of Inverewe Estate, Loch Ewe and the Highlands.

Inverewe Garden reviews
So many paths were 'no access'. If only the efforts to restrict visitors' freedom to wander had gone into more plant labelling! If you are risk adverse, please visit. Otherwise wait in case 'normal... more »
£26 plus £2 parking is a bit excessive for the very short time we could spend here. It may be the case that areas are closed off during Covid but I’d have been annoyed if I’d been paying for more... more »
Absolutely marvellous!! Even in a rare case that you don't like botanical gardens it is worthwhile seeing. Secluded in a small own bay and protected with Scottish pine wood it cultivates plants and trees from many different climate regions. It's a wonder! The house in which biologist Osgood Mackenzie who created it lived is like from a Agatha Christie novel. You need at least 2 hours to see the Gardens fully.
Lovely gardens, we went in as members of the National trust si did not need to pay anything. The walled garden in particular was beautiful. Really enjoyed our impromptu visit here.
