Shakespeare's New Place, Stratford-upon-Avon

3.7
#6 of 17 in Parks in Stratford-upon-Avon
Visit Shakespeare’s final place of residence where he died in 1616. Shakespeare's New Place are a well-preserved Tudor building and a house bought by William Shakespeare in 1597, which are side-by-side. It is believed this is the site where Shakespeare wrote some of his later works such as The Tempest. Take a video tour of the Shakespeare houses and gardens, pay a visit to Shakespeare's grave, and explore a Tudor house and traditional knot garden. There are activities in the family marquee, Tudor games in the gardens (weekends and school holidays), and finds from a three-year archaeological dig. Put Shakespeare's New Place and other Stratford-upon-Avon attractions into our Stratford-upon-Avon trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • That is the place where Shakespeare's house stayed in that time, and where he moved to start his own family. Unfortunately there is no house any more and its story is interesting, we can learn a lot about it here. The back garden is beautiful and at the entrance we can find different modern arts related to this place or the history.#Inside of the building there is a small exhibition and we can listen to the member of staff who gives us a nice, well detailed presentation about the house and the writer's life. That was worth to listen to as I learned a lot new things. If we buy a full story ticket, we can visit all the 5 places related to Shakespeare and tickets are valid for 1 year.
  • Very interesting. I enjoyed the speech Phil gave. Lots of energy. The place is very well kept and clean. Guides are enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
