Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park

#2 of 201 in Parks in Wyoming
Must see · Hot Spring · Nature / Park
This cone geyser is an icon of Yellowstone National Park. The team who discovered Old Faithful described it as “the perfect geyser.” Though not the tallest or largest in the park, the geyser is one of the most popular for its beauty, size, and regularity of eruptions--almost every 91 minutes, hence its name. Watch the explosion of boiling water reach a height of 32 to 56 m (106 to 185 ft) for around 1.5 to 5 minutes, giving you plenty of time to take photos. The cafeteria in the nearby lodge boasts great views if you want to watch the show over a sandwich. They also do take-out. • Old Faithful is the iconic stop in Yellowstone. Everyone has to see it erupt at least once. We saw it then hung around the Old Faithful Village and waited for it to erupt once again. It is pretty.....  more »
  • I liked walking the two main loops around old faithful. It was neat seeing all the other geysers, mud pots, blue holes, and other underground activities. In the morning there was mist rising in...  more »
  • This was the best thing I have ever seen in my life. It is amazing. It’s amazing what God has made and the true wonder this is. I saw the eruption happen I recorded it but am not available to post it yet but will do. Sunday the predictions we got was off a little. Was a lot of people and was a free day for entry. The area has bench’s to sit and wait. Was worth the wait despite the off predictions. They have programs which are very educational and informative. I would definitely recommend going there to see it. One thing I have to say the parking is a problem so do go early and no hurry there is a lot of geysers to see. I have a video of the eruption but not able to post it.
  • Huge parking lot makes you think the area will be jam-packed but it's actually very spacious. Restaurant, store, restrooms to visit while you wait for the next eruption. Plenty of seating not only on the boardwalk but also behind it in the shade if you don't mind sitting close to the ground. Dogs are allowed in that area and was happy to find so many people brought theirs along.
