War Remnants Museum delivers a somber account of the horrors of the Vietnam War and other wars of colonialist aggression that have plagued the Vietnamese people. The museum's exhibits may contain a heavy dose of one-sided anti-American sentiment, but they well represent residual American--and other foreign--weaponry and the destruction it wreaked. Look for the French guillotine used to execute prisoners and for the unexploded ordnance stored in a corner of the yard. War Remnants Museum Reviews
Children will learn a lot from this museum. Especially since the war happened in recent history. A lot of exhibits are in non-airconditioned rooms so it may be very hot. more »
As an Australian, I have always viewed the Vietnam War (who ih they call the American War) through the eyes of an American ally. The journey here is captured by images of photographers from many count... more »
This museum is very respectfully done. The photographs are amazing, but some are very graphic (just to be aware). As you enter there are old tanks and planes, very neat to see up close. The museum flows in a time line fashion with very detailed descriptions of the photographs and artifacts. One of the upper floors has a children's area and on the ground level is an outdoor coffee shop. I'd allow about 2 hours at least and more if you're a reader of everything like myself.
There is a lot to see here. It's fascinating but also so sad. There are many relics from the war. Planes, tanks, helicopters, bombs etc. Mostly left behind by the Americans. The real moments from the war are in the pics though. There are 3 levels in the Museum. Each level devoted to different aspects of the conflict and some politics. With many photo graphs representing both sides of the war. The pics are explained in Vietnamese and English. It's worth spending a few hours here and not be in a rush.
