Constructed for Emperor Tu Duc, Tomb of Tu Duc represents the lavish final resting place of the Nguyen dynasty's longest reigning monarch. Regarded as a remarkable example of royal architecture, the tomb contains a temple area, where the emperor used to read, write poetry, work, and reside, and the tomb area. Explore the palaces, mansions, and pavilions tucked into pine forests and surrounded by the Khiem Luu Lake. If you visit on a hot day, carry extra water, sunscreen, and an umbrella or a hat to hide from the sun. Tomb of Tu Duc Reviews
There are several tombs that you can visit but, for comparison and contrast, I'd suggest that you visit both here and the tomb of Khai Dinh. This one is more 'traditional', being set in a nicely... more »
The grounds here are beautiful with cool pools with coy carp, plenty of lovely trees and plants and a most tranquil place for the tomb of am=n emperor. Look up at the many roof tops which are... more »
Wonderful place abandoned park. Guards try to play a fun game with the people that try to get on the park which of course isn't legal but for anyone that wants to break the rules you need to pay for it. Great area to drive around with the bike if you can get it in. We just opened the fence as other people left. They told us to. The guard will try to get you and ask for money... Approx 20k would do per person.
A really delightful and peaceful place to visit with very few other tourists. These tombs are so much more than just a tomb, they are complete landscapes carefully chosen (some took years to even plan) and then built as a little piece of heaven on Earth. Somewhere where the spirit of the Emporer would be happy to spend eternity. I was certainly happy to spend an afternoon here. It is a surprisingly large area with landscaped hills, lake, waterways, woodland as well as the beautiful buildings. Dress appropriately for the temple elements. Walk off to the quiet corners and enjoy the peace as well as discovering something new. There is repair work all over this tomb but not enough to spoil your visit by any means. However, the other tomb a few hundred yards further down the road was completely shut due to renovation work (mid December 2018). A word of warning about travel I used an app to get a ride out here but it didn't work to get back in to town for some reason (too far out perhaps?) Thanks to the other couple who let us share their car back in to town!
