Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang

#2 of 10 in Historic Sites in Nha Trang
Admire a huge 24 m (79 ft) tall statue of White Gautama Buddha--the largest outdoor scultpure in Vietnam--at Long Son Pagoda, the largest pagoda in the country. Intricate dragon mosaics made of glass and ceramic tiles decorate the entrance to the temple, with the large statue of the reclining Buddha resting in the temple’s well-manicured garden. Climb 152 steps to the top of the mountain to enjoy the big Buddha arising from lush greenery from a distance, as well as gaining panoramic views over the city. • Long Sean Pagoda is a local attraction, the most popular in Nyachang. Next to the pagoda courtyards there are about 155 steps leading to Mount Tray Tui, where pilgrims can see the sights and worship the sacred pagoda. Approaching the 44th step, tourists can admire the magnificent marble statues of Buddha in nirvana (lying Buddha). Behind the statues is a large bas-relief depicting 49 disciples of Buddha. Continuing to climb the stairs you can admire the high bell. And of course the statue of the seated Buddha, the tallest in the province (the capital of which is Nyachang), which offers panoramic views of the whole city!) Although many discouraged to go, because there is always crowded and a lot of Chinese (tourists do not like to go with them, because they are very noisy, loud, talkative), but we do not spoil the weather anywhere (probably because we treat them evenly).

  • We walked already in the afternoon, people after sunset no one. Atmospheric place, at night in the territory inhabited by frogs, shavings, lizards, etc. All this gives such enchanting magic. Buddha is illuminated, so don't get lost.

  • Nice temple. One of the two temples to visit in Nha Trang. Worth a visit! Only 35 dong to get in which is a bargain. Don't forget it is a temple so you will need to wear appropriate clothingbut if you forget, they do have robes you can borrow. Some of the building has been restored but it's been done in a way that looks like it's original features. The massive white Buddha alone is beautiful and you don't have to walk up a hill for hours to see it.
  • Very good place to visit. Sadly the Pagoda was being repaired but we could visit the big Buddha. Close to the entry there is a very good vegetarian restaurant. Inside the big Buddha there is a place to worship very peaceful. Very recommended.
