The jewel of the northeastern coast of Tasmania, Barnbougle Dunes is considered one of the world’s premier golf courses. Architects Tom Doak and Mike Clayton designed the 18-hole championship layout, setting the course on 81 hectares (200 acres) of undulating sand dunes that overlook Bass Strait. The layout is not long, but can be challenging to inexperienced players when the wind is blowing hard, which is often the case in this part of Tasmania. The site also includes 22 accommodation villas, a restaurant, and a conference facility perched on the dunes.     Cannot quite understand all the very positive reviews. Courses are good but the Dunes in particular was in poor condition. Our visit was ruined by chronically slow play. If you have 5 hours to queue.....  more
