  • A fantastic regional museum, run by some very helpful and knowledgeable volunteers. The displays are very, very high quality, with a massive amount of information about the local area and its history. The old steet setup inside is great to walk through and gives a fantastic atmosphere. I couldn't believe that it was free to enter.....I have seen lesser quality museums charge for entry. If you want to spend an enjoyable hour or two, looking at some very interesting artifacts and learning all about the local history of Burnie, then this is the place for you.
  • We visited the museum during our port day on the cruise from Melbourne. The mayor came out to greet us and there's a little market open for our visit outside the museum. The museum itself is so well maintained and volunteers are great helping visitors if needed. No admission fee, donations welcome. There's a Federation Street inside the museum which I love and found it very impressive. Highly recommend you go visit the museum and give the volunteers a pat on their back for their excellent efforts.
