Created by the movement of the earth and the effects of natural erosion on flat sedimentary rock, Tessellated Pavement is a rare geological phenomenon found only in a few places in the world. This particular one sits at the northern end of Pirates Bay beach. Photographers have spent endless hours trying to capture the mystery of this geological oddity, but to experience its full effect you'll need to negotiate several sets of stable steps and clamber over few rocks. Natural beauty at its best. Quite surreal how the tessellated stones are carved out naturally. When you arrive you are greeted with a strong ocean sea salt smell and with a short trek down the path and short stairs you can get to the pavement directly. There is about 20 car park spots when you arrive.

Beautiful nature here - vast space and not very many people at all. Easy to access from the car park, however there are steps. Fun for kids and adults to explore , and literally millions of little creatures in the rocks!
