Designed by George F. Bodley, St. David's Cathedral is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of the prominent Victorian architect’s work. Constructed between 1868 and 1936 in the Gothic Revival architectural style, the cathedral features a distinctive arcaded entrance with large windows, buttressed turrets, and a square tower made of stone. Stained-glass windows depict the lives of saints, knights, kings, and numerous biblical figures. Along the walls small memorial plaques record the names of notable past members of the congregation. This historical building is located in the heart of the city and forms one of the most recognizable streetscapes in Australia. Visitors are welcome on Sundays at 8am or 10am for Holy Communion, and can also hear the choir sing at 10am. • Lovely church organ music on a Saturday morning.
  • Perfect place for a photo-op with beautiful stained glass windows and impressive Gothic-style dome. There is a nice quiet garden that you can sit down and relax. There are pamphets given out to casual visitors to explain the great history behind the church and introduce you to a full tour of the whole cathedral.
