    After sunrise arrival at Devonport I looked at map for alternate drive south to Hobart. Glad I went via the Great Lake (& others). A beautiful, big and scenic route. Fascinated by the shacks around...

    We love driving down through the lakes when heading South in Tasmania, rather than taking the boring Midland highway. This time we drive through snow and saw a wombat running across the road.

    Beautiful and freezing at the look out. Was -2 degrees on a windy July afternoon

    Drove there on the 8th of August 2021 with a 2005 VW golf. Winterish chills and wore nike shoes and skied with it. Came back with frozen toes haha. Gotta enjoy life. Amazing and beautiful place. An excellent place for family and friends. No bars or coffee shop /eateries nearby. Gotta bring your own. Pit stop to the nearest town "Deloraine" for fuel, food and warmth. Roads can be slippery and wet. In winter, it gets dark early so plan your travels to avoid missing the great view and getting back home safely.
