There are few better places to learn about Australia's penal-colony heritage than the Port Arthur Historic Site on the southeastern coast of Tasmania. Once a prison for Britain's hardest criminals, the complex's remains now serve as an open-air museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Despite the prison's grim purpose, it offers a scenic setting on the water surrounded by densely forested hills. Take a walking tour to learn about the prison's history, dine at Felon's Bistro, and then conduct a paranormal investigation with ghost-hunting equipment late at night. • Bring your walking shoes, 100 acres of up and down hills, very sad re the massacre, memorial is sad but poignant and in good taste, whole site is of great historical significance and the cruise out...

  • Food is good and value for money. There are 2 cafes in this place and you have variety of choices. Staff are friendly. There are lot of seating areas. Service is quick. Food is fresh and tasty. Indoor and outdoor dining areas available. Usually this is very busy. But staff take care of the guests. You don't need to book for seats. It is better to dine at this place before or after visiting this historic place. Because other restaurants are bit far way.
  • Parking easily available in front of entry to the Arthur site. Ticketing and checking staff is very friendly. Good overview of the historic site from many team members present at your slot. Last but not the least Harbor ferry.
