Create an itinerary including Remarkable Cave
Carved out of the sandstone cliff face forming a rock bridge, Remarkable Cave is truly remarkable for its opening that takes roughly the shape of the map of Tasmania. A short drive from Port Arthur Historic Site, this intriguing geographical feature is best seen from the viewing platform that lies at the bottom of a steep slippery stairway. Notice the huge boulders near the mouth of the cave that were left when the back of the cave collapsed. The top of the cave serves as a good lookout point. At low tide, you can climb down off the platform and experience the cave from within. Add Remarkable Cave and other attractions to your Port Arthur trip itinerary using our Port Arthur day trip site.

  • Walking down the steps to the remarkable caves is quite easy but just remember you have to come back up. Interesting to see how the cave was made and lovely looking over the sea cliffs

  • Lots to see and do for the family members.
  • More of an Okay cave, but worth a stop if you're already at Port Arthur to pad out the day. Might be more exciting if you haven't seen this style of cave before/if you were able to walk through it. Personally I thought the views over the coast from the top of the walkway were better.
