The zoo accommodates 20 alpine mammal species, 60 kinds of birds, 11 types of reptiles, and six amphibian species, as well as nearly all alpine fish species. Built on the side of the mountain, the zoo requires a lot of walking up and down the slopes. Rest at one of the picnic areas with the view of Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains. Dogs are not permitted inside the zoo. Not too much to say. We stop here on our way down from the top of the mountain. Definitely an attraction for a family, but as a couple is was ok. Nothing wrong with it just ok.

Sadly, as it was very hot, animals were sheltering from the heat, so had limited views . the zoo is built on the hillside so quite tiring going from one level to next with minimal flat areas.

We had an amazing time at the alpine zoo. We saw almost all of the animals that are in the exhibits, including baby bobcats. We had a toddler in a stroller and while the trails are fairly steep, it was still very manageable. The zoo is well worth the visit and all of the animals seem healthy and happy in their exhibits.

Great for all ages. 100m from top to bottom but no steps. Really nice layout. I wish the song birds had a bit more space. Worth the trip! The mergansers were NOT part of the exhibit but were there!
