In a palatial building, Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien exhibits the Habsburgs' extensive art collection, which was amassed over centuries. Designed by architect Gottfried Semper, the museum is mirrored by an identical building on the opposite side of the Ringstrasse, which houses the Naturhistorisches Museum. Discover works by artists like Vermeer and Rembrandt, as well as a large collection by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. An audio guide offers an in-depth exploration of close to 600 works in the museum, including commentary on the building itself. In addition to the masterpieces on display, the museum includes a reference library of more than 256,000 manuscripts, maps, and historical prints relating to art and cultural history. • Really nice place to visit. Great price for such experience and many things to see. You can easily spend here 3+ hours and leave with so much useful information about history and biology.

  • Wow!! This museum takes most of the day. We were there from 10:15am to 2:45pm with a brief cafe break and I'm certain that we did not manage to see everything. So worth it! The paintings, the collections, and the special exhibits are all fantastically curated. We saw the Iron Man exhibit and it was pretty cool.
  • Amazingly diverse place. I don’t live in Vienna anymore, but we still go there about 2-3 times a year and visit the museum nearly every time. Here is what I suggest: 1) Get an annual pass and visit a few times - it’s well worth it. 2) The museum offers Thursday night dinners. It’s lovely. Reservation needed. 3) I love the Egyptian collection
