At Stone Forest, see natural rock formations resembling animals, frozen fountains, or cascades.The stone formations--mainly between 5 and 7 m (16 and 23 ft) high--do not have solid foundations, but are hollow and filled with sand. It seems as though the pillars are stuck into the surrounding sand. The prevailing theory is that this petrified forest was formed some 50 million years ago while it was still a part of the sea floor. The stone forest near Varna is not a petrified forest however it is petrified coral. Still worth the visit though: it is an extremely eerie place

Fantastic place! Very kind worker helped with history. But better even to read about place before because it’s really fantastic! BUT! Be careful DONT LEAVE YOUR BELONGINGS IN THE CAR! STIFFS ARE AROUND and stealing things

Very nice place to visit! They say is a former sea, and the rocks formed by themselves around 5 mil years ago - the man selling tickets is very kind and will let you know all these details. What's visible now has a length of 800 m and is quite wide - the sand is very fine also. This desert with rocks, looks really impressive and should be better promoted.
