See Hala Sultan Tekke, an Islamic complex with a mosque, mausoleum, and a cemetery located alongside a salt lake. The cemetery dates back to the Bronze Age, two millennia BCE. According to popular belief, the remains of the Prophet Mohammed's foster mother also lies at the site. For that reason, it is considered one the highly sacred Muslim shrines of the world. Admire the pristine setting of the lake and the complex's subtropical landscape. To visit Hala Sultan Tekke and other attractions in Larnaca, use our Larnaca tour app.

  • I should start with the fact that the Hala Sultan Tekke is idyllic in a beautiful location on the shores of a Salt Lake. The Mosque can only be entered with a covered body (no shorts! No short skirts! Covered shoulders, covered knees). The garden and buildings around are well kept. The Mosque itself is beautiful on the outside, and inside you can feel the spirit of prayers. I recommend to see.
  • We had a quiet visit on a Thursday afternoon. Only one other person was there besides the guard. We had to show our Covid safe pass. It was free. Fun to look around!
