A relaxing seaside walk by day and a dazzling sight by night, Seebruecke Sellin is a lengthy pier jutting straight out in to the Baltic Sea. At night the pier is illuminated, so it can be easily spotted and photographed from the top of a nearby cliff. Originally built in 1906, the pier once stretched more than 500 m (1,640 ft) and included a small restaurant. After a fire damaged much of the structure in 1920, a new pier was built, along with a concert/dance hall. After many years of neglect and weather damage, the pier was reconstructed in the 1990s. Currently measuring 394 m (1,300 ft), this is the longest pier on the island. Drop by for a meal at the site's large restaurant, offering both indoor and outdoor seaside seating.
