Church of Panagia, Matala

Beautiful little church. Wonderful to visit and to take in some rest & peace. Please be respectful when visiting.

Out of respect for the population and the deceased, I do not post photos of the cemetery and the church/chapel. DEAR TRAVELERS, PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GO LIGHTLY CLOTHED IN GREEK HOUSES OF GOD (shoulder and arm, as well as leg-free), as far as I know this is not desirable. positive: -a small cemetery church on the outskirts of AG -!!!!!!!! according to my research the founding place of AG 😉!!!!!!!!! -apparently the church/chapel is partly open during the day -there is a small walk-in area with an altar and candles and a couple of frescoes -there is a "cemetery garbage can" just inside to the right of the entrance to the cemetery negative: -the chapel/church is a little off the beaten track and was therefore difficult to find Conclusion: A small church, remote but apparently the most important part of Agia Galini. Worth seeing but not an attraction.
